I went into a friends closet to get his deck of cards since he was going to do a reading; they didn't want to be picked up right then. I got a Shock like a sword was just shoved up my spine my hands pulled apart, fingers instantly letting go, and the cards dropped down to the floor, leaving me chilled, shaken, and with the certain knowledge that This deck didn't want to be picked up right then. After that, all thru the reading the cards were talking Loud and Clear to me, they were shouting at me. Without any real prior knowledge of crowley, his deck or other tarot cards themselves I was interpreting the whole reading. After that, I knew I had found the right deck for me.

Hey all. I've been lurking here forever and IAO beat me until I registered.

About me. I am a 27 year old Male from Arizona, engaged, and I work in Alaska 5 months out of the year.

I have been a practitioner of the Golden Dawn tradition since 1999 (9 years). I have been with two individual orders, including the off-shoot B.O.T.A. as well as The Hermetic Order of The Golden Dawn, which I had made it to grade 4=7. I primarily practice Enochian magick, I am favorable towards Dee and Kelly's authentic style, as opposed to the Golden Dawn fashioned Enochiana. Within the last 4 years I have been focusing alot of attention to the study and practice of Thelema. Anything else you want to know feel free to ask.

Greetings everyone. What to tell? I am a counsellor and mediator and also an ordained Chan (Zen) Buddhist priest, living in Australia.

I am interested in exploring my old Thelemic fascination again, particularly as I increasingly question the cultural/religious framework for Western adherents of Buddhism, and Chan (Zen) in particular.

I was drawn here by the very good introductory piece on Buddhism and Thelema.

I look forward to learning and contributing.

'dabbled': i meditate when i remember to, consult the tarot now and then (although i have found the more it's used the more is understood), fired a few sigils, use intoxicants more for a different mental state as opposed to 'just having a good time'...
i suppose my main pursuit, really, is music. though i think the two (magick and music) are intertwined in some way, at least for me.
i do feel there is something that seems to guide me in some ways, or at least, lead me to certain ideas, art and such. and there's this strange connectedness to it all, or maybe that's just how i see it?
anyway, here's to being serious in all pursuits, but not too serious.

Finally decided to join in here after reading several fascinating pieces by IAO131. I've been active as a Vedic brahmin in the past (for 12 years) and then embarked on a Druid path. In both traditions I was a student and a teacher (and still am as a Druid). Since last year I am finding my own personal path with a lot of thelemic influences. It's time for me to finally find my own True Will (after years of dedication and service unto others, ...). Glad to be here!

I am a 13 year Thelemite, and member of the OTO. I am currently an active member of Bubastis Oasis in Dallas TX, and am very active in that body. I run the website for Bubastis, along with another brother here. I am employed in the construction field as a Concrete Pump Operator. (Yeah I know, swanky huh?) I am very interested in promulgating the Law of Thelema, and exposing new/prospective Thelemites to the works of the Master Therion. To that end, I currently run a channel on Youtube called "The Stele of Revealing" on which I read Libers, and post songs I write pertaining to Thelema, as well as videos that touch on Thelemic topics that are important to me. My name is Lance, and I'm 36. Formerly educated in Christian ministry... lol..., That began to take a turn when I had some strange experiences with a person who believed herself to be possessed. I felt Christianity alone did not even have a vocabulary adequate to express the unexpected union of psychology and spirituality I found in that girl.

Those experiences began my interests in mysticism and Jung, and I ultimately found my home in hermetic qabalah. I began studying with the BOTA about four or so years ago. I chose to leave the ministry because I needed the freedom to change and explore, then decided to go back to school. Now I'm finishing up a masters in counseling.

Crowely did not seriously interest me until I had a very disruptive and ...honestly, just freaking INSANE... experience with kundalini awakening - CT Scans, medication, the works... It was unconsciously stimulated and somewhat unexpected, quite mysterious, enlightening, and scary as hell. It has taken some time to balance-out from that. On the other side of it, however, I find myself understanding much more of what ol' AC wrote.

I'm interested in Crowely from the perspective of Jung's _Aion_, in which Jung examines the Christ, the fish, and the anti-Christ as symbols for the Self in the age of Pisces, and the emergence of the repressed, unacceptable elements of the Self (the "Beast") at the beginning of the age of Aquarius, which... well... which Crowely, his experiences, and his writing seemed to express with unique and eerie perfection.

Its strange how I was introduced to thelemic studies, not the website, but the act of studying. I was hanging out with a self-proclaimed occultist, who I had MUCH doubt in, I still doubt this man, as he is a lunatic. Though he was insane, I believe that the power of inner will can be a great thing. He claimed to be a member of "The Illuminati". When I had got home that day, I had 2 friend requests on myspace, One from him, one from the band Illumine Naughty. When I see things like this, its not in my nature to mark if off as a coincidence. So I listened to the band, and researched much into their faith. I went to a book store the very next day, and purchased "The book of the law" along with "Equinox of the gods". I began to read, and within this book, I could see myself. For once, I felt as if a faith wasn't attempting to convert me, but simply show that it was something that I belong to, an opportunity for me, that no member of the faith benefits from, neither financially, psychologically, or spiritually.

I was convinced, so I began to research, and study beyond the work of Crowley. The internet is a great tool, Yet strangely, Everywhere I go, I run into the name "IAO131". Within the first month of studying this I ran into this website, and Was not at all interested.

But upon my scoping recently, I have decided I have ran into IAO131, and www.thelemicstudies.com One too many times for it to be ignored.
