Do what thou Wilt shall be the whole of the Law,
My Friends,
I'll try something new for me here, I'll try to keep it short and sweet. First of all I just want to say how much I've enjoyed reading this Journal, at least the forums and posts. I really find seeing the different perspectives, fascinating. However I really want to try and get a sense of something. I want to know how my fellow Thelemites feel about the use and legalization of Marijuana. Its something I'd like to think I know the answer to but obviously, there is no real way of knowing unless one asks, or gets experience. So to that end let me lay out in a very skeleton style format what I'm seeking here.
First how do you feel about Marijuana? Its use and its legalization.?
How do you percieve the Thelemic community to feel about it?
Have you utilized this particular Narcotic in a ritual setting and would you mind giving an example? Please provide any relevant info you are willing to share.
Would you be willing to participate in an organization which actively promotes the legalization of this substance and are you currently involved. Again please provide any relevant information. Will you at least sign a petition?
Do you know of any Thelemic centered groups currently involved in this particular activism?
I would like to point out in brief that with the exception of a 5 year period of sobriety Ive had a long and mostly enjoyable relationship with this drug. I've never used it ritually, but I've never had an interest in doing that. For my own reasons of course, lately though my interest in doing so has increased and would at least like any guidance from those who actually have experience integrating ritual and intoxication, even if only through the use of such dangereous material as alcohol.
Ive recently decided that it is "My Will" so to speak to move to California and become a farmer, its something I always wanted to do, but alway wanted to do so in my homestate, now I'm growing impatient with home. So I'm leaving. Yes if you have reccomendations on this, I would appreciate it. More to the point however I've started becoming politically active and getting up to date on the latest news and efforts to reform our laws.
I am currently interacting though still to a small degree only with non-Thelemic groups who are focused upon this issue, and am quite familiar with our Holy Books. So yes I believe there is plenty of spiritual justification. No worries.
On that note I would like to ask that any of your replies not contain only a recital of those eleven lovely words we love so much. Please actually write sometihing. I'm not looking for anyones permission. I feel I already have the highest level of permission to do so. I want thoughts from my fellow Humans about a very Human issue. So again if you all could participate in any way I certainly appreciate it. I will be making arrangements for this to show up in other posting boards. Please ask your friends to participate, in this questioning even if they dont belong to this Journal. As I say I am making arrangements for it to show up in other places.
Thank you all for your time and cooperation, If this has already been brought up, forgive me for not noticing Im trying to avoid going after and even replying to old posts as I dont know if they are monitored and I dont sseem to get an email indicating something Ive written is being replied to. At least not yet. So again Thank you.
Love is the Law, Love under Will.

93, Marijuana should be
Sun, 07/19/2009 - 07:50 — IAO13193,
Marijuana should be legalized and the public should be informed about its qualities, benefits, detriments, medical uses, and dangers... just like other products.
I am certain that virtually all Thelemites would support the use of marijuana and other drugs as it is supported by the Book of the Law in multiple ways. There are most likely Thelemites who support activism in this vein and there are most likely activists who are Thelemic in nature (but probably not aware of Thelema itself).

statistical evidence,
Mon, 07/20/2009 - 20:11 — KalithAlursuch as statistical evidence indicating that driving while intoxicated is a danger to the lives of others,
should in my opinion be the deciding factor.
I suppose it would be more difficult to determine statistically the benefit of a given substance.
but I think the only major consideration should be the danger of the intoxicant upon the lives of other than the intoxicated. How many crackheads go on killing sprees? They might be dangerous even when they don't drive a vehicle.
If the statistical danger to the lives of others compares to alcohol such that 5% as dangerous as alcohol, I think it should be legal. I think the more drugs there are available, the less the public will have a tendency to drink - especially concerning marijuanna.
Isn't THC more fun?

Legalizing marijuana would
Mon, 01/04/2010 - 05:54 — grahamLegalizing marijuana would make benefits be greater than the non-benefits so I think it's a move we have to make. Legalizing it would allow monitoring it and taxing it, we would have to worry about drug dealers any more, they would survive the system as dealers. Although there is the risk of spreading marijuana addiction even further and think this is just a short term risk, it's the long term results we should take into account.
